Couple Accused of Locking Daughter in Closet Post Bond and Are Released
SAN BERNARDINO — A couple who allegedly kept their 12-year-old daughter locked in a cockroach-infested closet for months and perhaps years were freed from jail.
Joseph Peter Sauceda, 33, and his wife, Sandra Limon Sauceda, 31, were released from the San Bernardino County Jail Friday night after posting bonds of $50,000 each. Family members provided the money.
Police acting on a tip from relatives discovered the couple’s daughter on Oct. 22 in a 4-by-5-foot closet of the couple’s San Bernardino home. The closet was infested with cockroaches, and the girl’s clothing was stained with human waste.
Joseph Sauceda is charged with felony child abuse and felony child endangerment. Sandra Sauceda is charged with felony child endangerment. Both have pleaded innocent.
