PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Gray’s Left Knee Hurting Again
Pro Bowl cornerback Jerry Gray is experiencing some problems with his left knee, which he injured in the exhibition season, sidelining him for the first three games.
Coach John Robinson said Gray was scheduled to have the knee examined by Dr. Clarence Shields either Tuesday or today. “We’re a little concerned about Jerry Gray, he’s showing some signs of wear on that knee,” Robinson said.
Running back Marcus Dupree will officially begin practicing with the team this week, Robinson said. Dupree, who was signed Oct. 5 and placed on the injured-reserve list after missing five seasons because of a damaged knee, has been working out at Rams Park but could not practice with the team until four weeks had passed.
“I think he’s ready to take the next step,” said Robinson, who will decide whether to activate Dupree later in the week.
Robinson also said it was possible that cornerback Darryl Henley, who has missed every game because of a rib muscle injury, could be activated this week.
