American Airlines Continues Battle: The carrier, in its continuing battle with United Airlines over international routes, asked the U.S. Department of Transportation to reverse its decision and give the Chicago-Tokyo route to American instead of United. A reversal is considered highly unlikely. American contends that the Oct. 16 route award is based on a “terrible flaw in logic” that will give United “the ability to dominate” the U.S.-Pacific market.
