‘Resistance to Gay Cops’
Chief Gates’ apparent rationale for not actively recruiting gay police officers is at best feeble and not well-thought out. The laws that protect homosexuals in the city of Los Angeles on the basis of sexual orientation also protect everyone else from discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin and so on. It certainly does not dissolve anyone’s minority status or homogenize everyone as Gates contends it does with homosexuals.
