Arte Chicano
* A landmark exhibition, “Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation, 1965-1985,” will open Sept. 9 at UCLA’s Wight Art Gallery.
Among artworks featured are (from top, left to right): “Frida Kahlo,” by Rupert Garcia, 1975; “Mestizo” by Amada Pena, 1974; “Division of the Barrios and Chavez Ravine,” a section of the “Great Wall of Los Angeles” mural, directed by Judith F. Baca, 1984; “Las Cuatas Diego/The Diego Twins,” by Cecilia Concepcion Alvarez, 1980, and “Viva la Raza,” by Salvador Roberto Torres, 1968.
The exhibition runs through Dec. 9 and is associated with the upcoming Los Angeles Festival. See story page 12. Festival article and schedule, pages 10-11.
