Proposal to Cut Payroll Tax for Social Security
In response to “$170-Billion Trust Fund Burning Holes in Needy Federal Pockets,” by Maura Reynolds, Aug. 16:
I totally agree with Moynihan’s plan. And if there is to be any investing of surplus funds, then the interest should be returned to the Social Security fund. I also ask the voting public to take the Social Security funds out of the hands of the legislators and out of the general revenue fund. I want Social Security funds untouchable--as the program was designed to be by Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
