Circle K Closing 201 Stores: The Circle K convenience store chain said it has begun closing 201 unprofitable stores and will complete the job by the end of the month. The move is intended to help turn around the Phoenix-based company, which in May filed for protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of federal bankruptcy law. Thirteen stores will be closed in Southern California, all in San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Another 16 stores will be closed in Central and Northern California. Circle K now has about 550 stores in California, including 87 in Los Angeles.
