Sam Jankovich, University of Miami athletic director, has proposed an alliance with two conferences to help form a new East Coast league. Candidates for the new conference are scheduled to meet in New York Aug. 30.

Jankovich said potential members of the league include Boston College, Syracuse and Pittsburgh, all members of the Big East in basketball. In order to round out the schools’ football schedules, Jankovich said the teams could play crossover games with teams in the Atlantic Coast and Southwest conferences.
