Alhambra : Tight Budget Adopted
The City Council adopted a tight two-year budget Monday that reflects slow economic growth and the projected inability of Alhambra Community Hospital to pay the city more than half of its annual $898,350 lease payments.
For 1990-91, the city plans to spend about $68.5 million, up from about $59.5 million in 1989-90. For 1991-92, the budget will drop down to about $62 million.
City Manager Kevin Murphy said the reason the budget rises about $9 million from 1989-90 and then falls in 1991-92 is primarily because of a large expenditure for redevelopment of a shopping center at Main Street and Chapel Avenue.
