WORLD IN BRIEF : EAST GERMANY : Journalists Tour Hitler’s Bunker
Journalists were allowed into parts of Adolf Hitler’s underground bunker and saw half a dozen dark rooms that someday may be turned into an exhibition. The journalists saw rooms that historians believe were dining facilities for the Nazi dictator’s bodyguards. A rusting steel door led to the government radio station, which Hitler used to broadcast propaganda messages. East Berlin City Councilor Thomas Krueger said the bunker rooms, which are off limits to the public, may one day become a “historic exhibition,” but cautioned, “there is still no clear plan.”
