SIMI VALLEY : Principal Sued for Harassment Resigns

The principal of Apollo High School in Simi Valley who was sued for sexual harassment of a teacher has resigned, school district officials said Friday.

Brad Greene, who has served as teacher and principal at the continuation high school for 23 years, will leave his post Feb. 1, said Mary Beth Wolford, assistant superintendent.

Greene, 49, said he is leaving to pursue a career in education consulting. He said he and his wife, Donna, will probably relocate in Northern California sometime next year.

“I’ve really been doing a lot of consulting for the last couple of years, and it makes it impossible for me to keep up with my school work,” Greene said.

Greene said his resignation has nothing to do with the sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed against him and the school district in 1988. Plaintiff Sara Kopman-Davis received $150,000 in an out-of-court settlement in November.

“If that had been a problem, I would have left then,” Greene said of the lawsuit and the subsequent settlement that involved no admission of guilt.

In her lawsuit, Kopman-Davis accused Greene of making sexually explicit remarks and of fondling her in an effort to seduce her, despite her rejections. Kopman-Davis, who joined the school district in 1981, also stated in the lawsuit that she eventually was forced to accept a demotion and a transfer in order to escape Greene.
