ANAHEIM : Boyfriend Arrested in Woman’s Murder
A 23-year-old woman was fatally stabbed and a man from whom she had recently separated is a suspect, police said Monday.
Anna Sanchez of Garden Grove suffered three stab wounds to the back, Anaheim Police Sgt. Chet Barry said, and died soon after at Humana Hospital-West Anaheim. Rigoberto Moreno, 35, was arrested in connection with the murder after he brought Sanchez to the hospital.
“It appears . . . the two had been living together for a couple years and she had tried to break it off,” Barry said, adding that they had recently separated.
Police said Moreno told them he picked Sanchez up from work at a Garden Grove fast-food restaurant and drove to Santa Ana, where they were accosted by three men. Moreno told officers that Sanchez was stabbed during an ensuing robbery attempt.
Investigators said they were suspicious of the story because Moreno purportedly drove from Santa Ana to Anaheim to take Sanchez to at the hospital.
