Tekelec Doubles Its 2nd-Quarter Earnings

Tekelec, a Calabasas producer of communications testing equipment, said its second-quarter earnings more than doubled from a year earlier on an 18% increase in revenue.

In the quarter that ended June 30, Tekelec’s net income rose to $1.19 million from $563,000, while its revenue rose to $9.74 million from $8.25 million. The gains partly reflected strong international orders, which rose 38% in the quarter from a year earlier, Tekelec said.

For the first half of 1990, Tekelec’s profit rose to $2.38 million from $1.81 million, and its six-month revenue increased 12% to $19.4 million from $17.4 million.
