NATIONAL ROUNDUP : Mistaurian Easily Wins Vagrancy

Mistaurian joined the leaders entering the stretch, then drew away to a 7 1/4-length victory over Feel The Beat in the $83,400 Vagrancy Handicap Sunday at Belmont Park.

Ridden by Herb McCauley and carrying 113 pounds, Mistaurian had to go wide at the turn but easily won the race for older fillies and mares, returning $9.40, $3.80 and $2.10.

Feel The Beat, ridden by Chris Antley, led until Mistaurian’s move and was three-quarters of a length ahead of favorite Fantastic Find under Craig Perret in the field of five. Spotty Hot and Wonchindordor were the trailers.

Mistaurian, owned by Bernard Chaus, covered seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:25 1/5. Her third victory in six starts this year was worth $50,040.

Jockey Rick Moss suffered an ankle injury when his mount, Phoenix Sunshine, stumbled and fell, causing two other horses to go down during the $109,900 Locust Grove at Churchill Downs.

Dibs, with Aaron Gryder aboard, was well outside the pileup and drew off for a two-length victory over City Crowds.

Dibs covered the 1 1/8 miles over the turf in 1:50 3/5 and paid $15.80, $5.60 and $2.80.

Clever Trevor, ridden by Don Pettinger, made his turf debut a successful one at Arlington International Racecourse, winning a $28,000 allowance race over one mile in 1:36.1.

The victory was the second in a row this year for Clever Trevor and increased his lifetime record to 12 victories in 19 starts. He has earned $1.05 million.
