Church Renovation, Other Projects Cited
O’Leary Terasawa Partners has won an honor award from the San Fernando Valley chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the renovation and expansion of the 44-year-old St. Martin of Tours Church in Brentwood.
The chapter presented one honor award--the AIA’s highest citation--two merit awards and six certificates of distinction at its annual installation and awards banquet at the MountainGate Country Club in Brentwood.
Judging the contest entries were William R. Sims of Walt Disney Imagineering, Glendale; Robert S. Kraft of Kraft Architects, Irvine, and Leon Sugarman of Studios Architecture, San Francisco.
Merit awards went to the designers of a Burbank office building and the architect of a 6,000-square-foot house in Pacific Palisades.
The Los Angeles-based Luckman Partnership was honored for the six-story, 125,000-square-foot Warner Brothers Office Building, designed to be compatible with its residential neighbors in Burbank’s Media District.
Jeffrey M. Kalban & Associates, Westwood, received a merit award for the Samandi residence, a stucco-and-glass contemporary house that takes full advantage of its tiny ocean-view site in Pacific Palisades.
Certificates of Distinction went to the architects of retail projects in the San Fernando Valley, two residences, work in progress on a theater in Eureka and to the O’Leary Terasawa firm for an addition to the Marymount High School in West Los Angeles.
