Prizzi’s Honor
To get some sense of how John Huston shaped the intricate workings of this rich, dense 1985 character comedy from the Richard Condon novel, try to imagine “The Maltese Falcon” set down in Brooklyn and played like an Italian opera. What emerges is a resoundingly comic love story with sobering underpinnings, taking place in and around a reigning Mafia family where every emotion is larger than life but death is simply business. With Jack Nicholson and Kathleen Turner (pictured), plus an Oscar-winning Anjelica Huston.
