Temple City Woman Receives Graduate Student Fellowship
A Temple City woman is among 14 University of Utah students chosen as recipients of annual Marriner S. Eccles Graduate Student Fellowships for 1990-91.
Kristie K. Seawright, who is studying management, was named an Eccles fellow. Each student will receive an $8,500 stipend, plus tuition and fees, for a full year of public policy research at the university, which is located in Salt Lake City. If they elect to attend only three quarters, the stipend is $6,375, officials said.
Winners were selected on the basis of academic qualifications and research proposals. Eccles Fellowships may be renewed for an additional year based on satisfactory progress and for a third year in exceptional cases.
The fellowships are funded through an endowment honoring the late Marriner S. Eccles, chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board from 1936 to 1948 and founder of First Security Corp., a Utah-based regional bank holding company.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and should be interested in pursuing advanced degrees in public policy areas.
