California IN BRIEF : VISALIA : Brief Adventure for Elderly Turtle
A senior citizen mutant ninja turtle didn’t come crawling out of a sewer like his teen-age brethren, but he had an adventure anyway before being reunited with his owner. This turtle wasn’t named after Renaissance artists as were the turtles in the hit movie. He’s simply called George and is said to be 126 years old. George got lost a couple of weeks ago from his home in Visalia and was found several miles away. George had distinctive markings--like several holes in his shell and a partial tag on his tail--so the Tulare County Humane Society knew he was a pet when he was turned in there. George has been reunited with his owner, who had offered a reward for his return.
