Taking of Life
I found Amy Wallace’s commentary in last Sunday’s San Diego county opinion section very insightful (“State Using Death Penalty Must Not Look Away”). In her article, Ms. Wallace states that “State sanctioned executions tell people that killing is all right in certain circumstances.” She goes on to say “That is a dangerous message, because the more callous society becomes to the taking of life, the less vigilant it will be in protecting it.”
As one who does not believe in either the death penalty or the right to unrestricted abortion, her commentary echoes precisely my reasons for opposing both.
I wonder if many abortion rights advocated could actually witness a third-trimester abortion and come away with their views unscathed. I think not.
