Religion, physical beauty and mysterious creatures beneath the sea make for some interesting contrasts on the small screen this weekend.
The annual Easter Sunrise service from the Hollywood Bowl can be seen Sunday at 5:15 a.m. on Channel 9. “Mass of the Air: An Easter Celebration” from Louisville, Ky., will screen Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on Channel 7.
Other Easter programs on Sunday include the “Walt Disney World Happy Easter Parade” at 12:30 p.m. (7)(3)(10)(42), and “The Mormon Tabernacle Choir: An Easter Gift of Music” featuring soprano Kiri Te Kanawa at 7 p.m. on Channel 28.
Sunday at 9 p.m. (2)(8), 65 women from around the world show off body and camisole in “The 1990 Miss Universe Pageant.” Dick Clark and Leeza Gibbons host the contest from the Shubert Theatre in Century City. Miss Norway, who hails from the Norwegian town of Hell, is said to be the first beauty pageant contestant who can officially be dubbed the beauty queen from Hell.
Beauties of a different kind are also on display Sunday at 9 p.m. on Channel 9 in the National Geographic special “Dancing With Stingrays.” In this one-hour program, divers explore the waters off Grand Cayman Island and interact with these majestic creatures.
