Flower Report--Rangers at Caspers Regional Park report that scattered stands of wildflowers are in bloom, and that more visitors are coming each day to see the displays. Among the blooming plants that can be found in the park are: laurel sumac, rattlesnake weed, Indian milkweed, narrow-leafed milkweed, bricklebush, bull thistle, bush groundsel, California everlasting, California encelia, cardoon, common sunflower, daisy, matchweed, mulefat, osmadenia, pebble pincushion, sacapellote, sweetbush, tarragon, tarweed, virgate stephanomeria and white sage.
Blooming cactus species include Perry’s cholla and prickly pear.
More Earth Day--The Festival of Arts grounds in Laguna Beach will be the site today of an “Earth Festival,” one in a growing list of local events marking Earth Day 1990 on April 22.
Today’s festivities include an art show, a speaker’s corner, music, dance and natural foods. Also featured will be a series of presentations for youngsters, including performances by local school groups; a concert by Michael Mish, who performs songs for children about the environment; a performance by the international children’s choir and environmental displays.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach. Admission is $1.
On Saturday, training for tree planting will be offered at the Fullerton Arboretum from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn how to select trees, and where and how to plant them. The event is offered by the Orange County Earth Day 1990 Coalition. Information: (714) 547-6282.
