Loyola 5, Alemany 3--Three Loyola home runs off Alemany left-hander Joey Rosselli (4-1) proved to be the difference in a Del Rey League game at Alemany.

Rosselli surrendered just six hits in the loss, striking out six and walking two. Alemany (6-7, 2-3) scored its runs on Richard Dice’s three-run double in the seventh.

St. John Bosco 3, Crespi 1--Visiting Crespi fell behind, 2-0, after three innings and several of its rallies fell short later in the Del Rey League game. Crespi (7-4-1, 3-2) left six men on base, and Brodie VanWagenen had a double for the Celts’ only extra-base hit.

Ricky Marino (3-2) pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on five hits and one walk in losing to St. John Bosco (9-0-1, 5-0). Crespi scored its run when Pat Bennett hit the third of three singles in the fourth inning.

Royal 13, Thousand Oaks 2--Sean Mitchell was four for five with a double and a home run to lead Royal (6-3, 2-2) in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks. The Lancers (6-2, 3-2), who committed eight errors and allowed eight unearned runs, have committed 20 errors in the past three league games.

Robert Campos, Richard Naranjo, Steve Landaker and Steve Bernstein each had two hits for Royal. Brett Herman was two for three for Thousand Oaks.

Camarillo 12, Newbury Park 3--Five Scorpions drove in two runs each as Camarillo won a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Mike Muncy, Nick Frank, Tim Cornish, Matt Tackett and Robert Sanchez each knocked in a pair of runs to support the five-hit pitching of Eric Raba (4-2).

Chris Marsden drove in two runs for Newbury Park (5-7, 1-4).

Saugus 5, Canyon 4--Kyle Lonsberry was three for four with two runs scored and one run batted in to lead host Saugus (8-2-1, 5-0) to its fifth consecutive Golden League victory. With the score tied, 4-4, with two out in the bottom of the seventh, Lonsberry doubled, stole third and scored the winning run when Josh Nolan singled to right.

J. B. Johnson added two hits, including a home run, for Saugus.

Palmdale 8, Antelope Valley 6 (eight innings)--B. J. Petersen doubled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh to cap a three-run rally and tie the score, 6-6. But Palmdale scored twice in the eighth in a Golden League game at Antelope Valley.

Antelope Valley (2-8, 1-4) loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the eighth, but Palmdale turned a double play on a sacrifice fly when the plate umpire ruled that the Antelopes’ runner on third left too soon when he attempted to tag up and score.

Chris Tampoya had two hits for Palmdale (3-2). David Cooke had three hits and teammates Jade Freeman, Jeff Whiteford and Andersen had two apiece for Antelope Valley.

Quartz Hill 9, Ridgecrest Burroughs 8--Andy Putnam hit a two-run triple and had two RBIs to lead Quartz Hill (4-5, 2-3) to a Golden League victory at home. Quartz Hill scored the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh, when Dave Haney scored on a throwing error with the bases loaded.

Burroughs 7, Schurr 6--Scott Minkler singled in the bottom of the seventh with two out to score Alex Megas with the winning run in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Mike Medina hit two home runs and had four RBIs for Burroughs (2-8, 1-3), and teammate Eddie Gavilan was four for four.

Alhambra 7, Burbank 5--Alhambra turned four hits and four Burbank errors into a Foothill League victory at Foy Park.

Teddy Gonzalez and Steve Rutowske each had two hits for Burbank (2-5, 0-5).

Glendale 3, Hoover 0--Senior right-hander Danny Gray (3-1) pitched a two-hitter to lead host Glendale (4-2-2, 2-2-1) to a Pacific League win. Gray also had three hits, including two doubles, and teammate Brent Overfelt added two hits.

Rio Mesa 4, Oxnard 1--Jon McMullen had three hits, and teammate Angel Lopez added two hits and a stolen base to lead Rio Mesa (6-3-2, 3-0-2) to a Channel League win at home. Mike Mitchell hit a solo home run for Rio Mesa in the sixth inning to support the pitching of winner David Soliz.

Montclair Prep 9, Western Christian 1--Senior Kevin Grant (4-1) fired a two-hitter to propel Montclair Prep in an Alpha League opener at Encino Colt Field. Grant struck out seven, walked four and pitched a complete game.

The Mounties (8-2, 1-0) scored six runs in the first inning on RBI doubles by Keyaan Cook (two for three, two RBIs) and Jared Baumblatt, and run-scoring singles by Brent Polacheck. Dylan Jones hit a solo home run.

Village Christian 10, L.A. Baptist 3--Matt Smay (3-1) pitched a complete game in an Alpha League opener at L.A. Baptist. Smay, a junior right-hander, struck out 12, walked seven and scattered five hits for the Crusaders (9-1-1, 1-0).

Moorpark 4, Carpinteria 2--Senior right-hander Robert Hernandez threw a four-hitter, struck out five, walked none and was three for three with three stolen bases to lead Moorpark (4-4-1, 3-1-1) in a Tri-Valley League game at home.

Highland Hall 3, Pahranagat (Nev.) 2--Highland Hall (9-1) continued the best start in school history with a win in the Cactus Classic, which is hosted by Virgin Valley High in Mesquite, Nev.

Highland Hall starter Jakob Jensen (2-0) struck out seven in the game, which was reduced to five innings under tournament rules, and drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.

SOFTBALL

Village Christian 4, Immaculate Heart 0--Jana Kovar (1-1) pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight to lead host Village Christian (7-4) to a nonleague victory. Kovar, a junior right-hander, also had two doubles and two RBIs.
