Spraying Shouldn’t Be Done Without Advance Warning
The recent conflict regarding the malathion spraying has prompted me to write.
California has a very respectable agricultural industry. Are we willing to jeopardize this industry?
I realize that spraying malathion leaves an unwanted mess on cars and other property as well as poses a possible health threat (though this has not been confirmed), but I feel that it is necessary.
The use of malathion is a short-term answer for pest control. To all those opposed to malathion spraying I ask: Are you willing to purchase fruit and/or vegetables that are partially eaten by pests and are you willing to buy these products even though they are not perfect looking?
The termination of malathion spraying could cause either of these types of situations.
