WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Scott Pruett, the co-rookie of the year in the 1989 Indianapolis 500, suffered serious leg injuries Friday in a crash during a test session at the Fairgrounds track.
Pruett, considered one of the rising stars on the CART Indy-car circuit, crashed while driving a new Judd-powered Lola on the temporary circuit used by several teams for off-season testing.
The 29-year-old driver from Roseville, Calif., suffered an open fracture of the left knee, a broken left ankle and right knee and a bump over his right eye.
