Local Investors Win Thrift Fight: A dissident investment group based in Redondo Beach said it successfully elected its nominee to the board of directors of BFS Bankorp in New York. The seat had been held by Eldon C. Hanes, former chairman of BFS, a thrift holding company whose main subsidiary is Bankers Federal Savings Bank. The investment group, First Capital Group Inc., which owns about 5% of BFS, said its representative on the board will be James B. Rosenwald.
