Kovic’s Service

In the Orange County section (Feb. 8), Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove) stated the following: “His (Ron Kovic’s) stands are the antithesis of John Wayne. . . . This guy has attacked everything John Wayne stood for.”

Mr. Dornan’s statement is about the most condescending remark I have ever heard from any politician. Does he really think his constituents should compare Ron Kovic to John Wayne? How naive and gullible does he really think his constituency is? Mr. Kovic is confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life because of his love for this country. I certainly hope the voters wake up to this embarrassing ruse of Mr. Dornan.
