COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Four Homers Power Rancho Santiago
Rancho Santiago hit four home runs in an eight-run third inning and went on to defeat visiting College of the Desert, 10-0, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday.
Steve Grack hit a grand slam, and Marty Neff John Webber and Wayne Heft also hit home runs for Rancho Santiago (10-2).
Orange Coast 6, Long Beach 5--Visiting Orange Coast (7-5) scored the winning run in the eighth when Steve Hernandez’s sacrifice fly scored Isidro Maldonado.
In nonconference softball:
Golden West 4, College of the Canyons 0--Sophomore Lisa Kaufman pitched a no-hitter.
Golden West 3, Bakersfield 0--Kaufman (5-1) followed her no-hitter against College of the Canyons with a one-hitter against Bakersfield in games at Bakersfield.
Saddleback 1, Pasadena 0--Patty Skidmore hit a leadoff double in the seventh, went to third on a single and scored Saddleback’s winning run on a ground out.
Orange Coast 3, Long Beach 2--Orange Coast (7-0) scored the winning run in the top of the seventh when Cathy Scanlan singled home Wendy Robinson from second base.
Cerritos 5, Cypress 4--Vickie Davis had two hits, including a two-out, two-RBI triple in the fourth inning that gave Cerritos (8-2) a 4-3 lead.
