Naruhiko Higashikuni; Japan Imperial Family Member

Naruhiko Higashikuni, 102, a member of the imperial family who became Japan’s first prime minister after World War II. Higashikuni, a great uncle of Emperor Akihito, was the first imperial family member to head a Cabinet. He formed it two days after Japan surrendered to the Allies on Aug. 15, 1945, at the request of the late Emperor Hirohito. His Cabinet, however, lasted less than two months because of general confusion in the country during the postwar period. In Tokyo on Jan. 19.
