LOS ALAMITOS : Capital Game Going for 3rd Straight Stakes Win
Capital Game, owned by Brunet, Tagliaferri and Forsyth, will be gunning for his third straight stakes score when he takes on a field of seven in the $15,397 California Breeders Stakes for sophomore trotting colts and geldings Wednesday night at Los Alamitos.
The co-featured ninth race is the $5,000 second leg of the Stanton Pacing Series for colts and geldings.
Brigandy, who won the first leg of the second division, tops the field along with Absolute Gem, the runner-up in the first leg of the first division. Also in the wide-open race are Red Star Baron, Land Force, Yankee Tiger, Muscat Canelli, Clos Du Val, Main Topic, Dare to Be Great and Endless Story.
Flight Strip, winner of the first leg of the first division, is taking the week off.
First post will be 7:30 p.m. Those 62 and older will be admitted free.
The field, in post position order: Little Sur, Jim Grundy; Capital Game, Gaetan Brunet; Rowdy Rooster, Lloyd Higgins; Storm’s Brother, Robert Sleeth; Here Comes Joe, Jim Morand; Macho Camacho, Pete Foley; Sir Ricky, George Cliff, and Clark Canyon, Rick Kuebler.
The trotting feature goes as the eighth race on the 10-event program.
