Scottish diver Peter Smith was rushed to hospital after cracking his head on the board in the Commonwealth Games at Auckland, New Zealand.
Smith hit the back of his head on the board during the men’s 1-meter springboard event.
New Zealand diving coach Merv Campbell said Smith suffered a head wound that required stitches.
Smith, fifth after five rounds, was attempting a 2 1/2 somersault tuck when he hit the board.
Campbell said Smith was “coherent but obviously shaken” when taken to hospital by Scottish officials.
