The Anaheim City Council has approved by a 4-1 vote plans to build a 20,000-seat arena, despite objections lodged by the Rams, a stable owner and many residents.

The arena could open as soon as fall, 1991. City officials hope the $85-million arena would attract an NBA team and bring hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars to the city.
