Voters League Sponsors Higher Education Meeting in Ventura
The League of Women Voters will sponsor a meeting Saturday addressing questions related to the need for higher education in Ventura County. The meeting, consisting of a panel of six speakers, will last from 10 a.m. to noon at Community Presbyterian Church, 115 Lincoln Drive, in Ventura.
Speakers will include Russ Baggerly, a local environmentalist; economist Dick Felton; Michael Gonzalez, a counselor at Santa Paula High School; Ron Komers, personnel director for Ventura County; Elise Schneider, president of Oxnard College, and a representative from Cal State Northridge’s Ventura Center.
The meeting is part of an ongoing study of the higher-education issue by the league. The study does not deal with selection of a Ventura County site for a California State University, according to a league spokeswoman.
