Insurer Declared Insolvent: State regulators have declared Pacific Standard Life Insurance Co. insolvent by $54 million and have ordered the Davis, Calif.-based insurer to stop conducting business. The California Department of Insurance said the company was being run “in a manner hazardous to its policyholders, creditors and the public.”
