Machine Tool Orders Fall: U.S. machine tool orders fell 21.8% in October to $205 million from a year earlier, and were down 32.3% from September’s $302.60 million, the National Machine Tool Builders’ Assn. said. The trade association said total machine tool shipments rose 18.6% to $251.55 million from a year ago, but were down 10.8% from the $282 million posted the previous month. Foreign orders totalled $22.25 million in October, compared with $23.10 million for September, the monthly report said.
