Deputy Wounds Suspect as He Tries to Flee Arrest
While hanging out of the door of a moving pickup truck near Lake View Terrace, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded the driver who was attempting to flee from a drug arrest, authorities said Wednesday.
The driver, Stokes Crotts, 35, was shot in the stomach, arm and leg. He was in satisfactory condition at Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, and he was later identified as an escapee from an Oregon prison.
A 29-year-old woman who was also in the truck told deputies that Crotts had raped her, investigators said.
Deputies said Crotts was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and investigators would also seek rape charges against him.
