Datum Inc.: The Anaheim-based manufacturer of precision instrumentation posted third-quarter earnings of $440,000, a 31% increase from the $336,000 reported for the comparable quarter last year. Sales rose 2%, to $9.5 million from $9.3 million. For the first nine months, net income declined 2%, to $980,000. Last year, the company reported net income of $996,000, which included a gain of $103,000 from an accounting change. Sales rose 17%, to $27.2 million from $23.1 million. Datum makes frequency and timing instrumentation for military, industrial, space and commercial applications.
