West Hollywood : Senior Center to Get Guard
A full-time security guard will be on duty at the West Hollywood Senior Center in Plummer Park this month, in response to rising concern about the safety of staff and clients there.
A letter to the Department of Human Services from Jewish Family Services, which operates the center, said the increasing number of transients, including the homeless, mentally ill and drug users, is causing volunteers, staff and clients to feel unsafe. The letter cited four incidents of violence that have occurred since June.
The city council called for an evaluation by its staff of the security situation in early November.
