Tujunga Couple Held in $380,000 Drug Seizure
Ahusband and wife were arrested after authorities seized about $380,000 worth of cocaine and marijuana from their Tujunga home, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday.
Mark Wellman, 41, and his wife, Susan, 35, were arrested about 6 p.m. Monday at their home in the 10200 block of Bluegum Canyon Road, Deputy Van Mosley said.
Acting on an anonymous telephone tip, narcotics deputies from the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station searched the Wellman home and found marijuana growing in a greenhouse on the 2 1/2-acre property, Mosley said.
The marijuana plants ranged from 3 to 10 feet tall and would have produced about 60 pounds of the drug worth about $80,000 on the street, he said.
Deputies also confiscated two pounds of cocaine worth about $300,000 and $75,000 in cash at the house, Mosley said.
The Wellmans were charged with suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale and cultivating marijuana, Mosley said. They remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $15,000 bail each.
