Belmont 31, North Hollywood 9--Belmont scored on its first three possessions and went on to trounce host North Hollywood (0-3) in a nonleague game.
Belmont (2-1) scored first on Edgar Moreno’s 28-yard field goal in the first quarter. In the second quarter, tailback Tjah Evans, who had 56 yards rushing in 13 carries, dove one yard for a touchdown. Guard Francisco Feliciano moved into the backfield and scored from three yards with seven seconds left in the half to put Belmont ahead, 17-0.
North Hollywood got its first points of the season early in the third quarter when Belmont snapped the ball through the end zone on a punt attempt for a safety. On North Hollywood’s next possession, tailback Mike Lewis, who gained 78 yards in 24 carries, scampered 30 yards for a touchdown.
North Hollywood was hampered by the loss of starting quarterback Chris Carrillo, who went down with a bruised right shoulder in the first quarter. He threw only three passes.
