Latinos Protest Border Policies

About 75 members representing a coalition of Latino groups opposed to U.S. immigration policies and policing picketed peacefully Saturday at the pedestrian entrance to Mexico at the U.S.-Tijuana border.

The picketers handed out leaflets to people crossing into Mexico detailing their demands that U.S. Border Patrol officers who last month ran over a 14-year-old Mexican youth trying to cross into the U.S. be prosecuted for murder.

They also denounced the nation’s immigration policy and called for an open border similar to that between the United States and Canada.
