College Roundup : Minnesota Downs UCI in Volleyball

Minnesota, led by 13 kills from Lori Miller and Chris Schaefer, defeated the UC Irvine women’s volleyball team in Crawford Hall Tuesday, 15-6, 3-15, 15-11, 15-11.

Irvine’s Kim Collins and Ali Wood also each had 13 kills as the Anteaters’ record fell to to 1-1. The Golden Gophers improved to 6-0.

The Anteaters were hampered by an injury to their setter, sophomore Rhonda Schnitger. Schnitger suffered an injury to her face in the third game and left the match. She returned in the final game, but could not finish.

UCI will play host to the Anteater Invitational Friday and Saturday. Texas Tech faces the University of San Diego in the first game at 5 p.m Friday. At 7 p.m., the Anteaters will play Eastern Washington.

UCLA 6, Southern California College 0--The host Bruins (3-0) wasted little time, as they led, 3-0, at halftime in the non-conference soccer match. Coby Jones, Chris Roosen and Will Steadman had goals in the first half.
