U.S. Carrier Heads for Mediterranean Duty

WASHINGTON — The U.S. aircraft carrier America and three other warships headed through the Suez Canal on Tuesday to join the 6th Fleet in the Mediterranean, the Pentagon said.
The carrier is scheduled to replace the Coral Sea, which is to return to the United States.
It was being accompanied through the canal by the guided missile cruiser Dale, the destroyer Compte De Grasse and the frigate Joseph Hewes, the Pentagon said.
