Eureeka! A new season of children’s TV programming has been found.
Nickelodeon, the cable TV network, kicks off this week’s wealth of new children’s shows with “Eureeka’s Castle,” a new weekday series premiering Monday at 11:30 a.m.
The hourlong entry uses a mix of puppets, live-action films and animated shorts to deal with issues faced by preschoolers. Among the cast of puppets is Eureeka, the daughter of a wizard and fairy godmother, and Magellan, a baby dragon.
“Eureeka” will be followed each weekday at 12:30 p.m. by “Fred Penner’s Place,” a new half-hour series hosted by Penner, a Canadian performer.
On Saturday, two of the networks will unveil their new children’s schedules, which include ABC’s animated “Beetlejuice,” based on the 1988 comedy about a ghost, and NBC’s “Camp Candy,” a live-action/animated comedy starring John Candy.
