Trimedyne Inc., the Tustin manufacturer of laser-assisted catheters to open blocked leg arteries, said it has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to market a new laser probe. The Laserprobe SLR catheter, 3 millimeters in diameter, is the 10th and largest probe to be marketed by Trimedyne, said Richard Demmer, executive vice president.
Demmer said the probe was added to the Trimedyne product line “at the request of leading surgeons who asked us to develop a wider laser-heated probe to vaporize more plaque in the arteries.”
