A San Diego County jury has decided that Hector Ayala should be put to death for his part in the murders of three men in a Logan Heights garage. With Ayala, 36, the night of the killings were his brother Ronaldo Ayala, 37--sentenced to die in an earlier trial--and Joseph Moreno, 49, who is awaiting trial. The three victims in the April 26, 1985, attack were Ernesto Mendez Dominguez, 30; his brother-in-law Marco Zamora Villa, 31, and Jose Luis Rositas, 24. All three men were gagged and had their hands tied behind there back. Formal reading of the sentence will be Nov. 17. If the jury’s decision is approved, the death sentence will automatically be appealed.
