Golding Suggests Vote on Merger
County Supervisor Susan Golding suggested Thursday that the county stage a non-binding advisory election in June to learn whether voters support Edison’s proposed merger with SDG&E.;
A ballot measure “would answer once and for all how the people in San Diego feel about the merger,” Golding said. An advisory vote also would force opponents and proponents to “debate and discuss” the merger, she said.
The proposed ballot measure, which must be approved by the full Board of Supervisors, would cost about $30,000, said Golding.
