From United Press International
MOSCOW — The Buran space shuttle, strapped aboard the world’s largest air transport, began its piggyback trip Wednesday to the Paris air show on a flight the Soviet pilot said set an unofficial payload record.
The Buran, which made its maiden flight last Nov. 15, traveled from an airport in the Ukraine atop an Antonov 225 transport plane, the world’s largest. The takeoff payload, including the Buran, topped 560 tons, according to the official Tass news agency.
