Driver Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter in Crash
A Newhall man pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving charges stemming from an accident that killed a 64-year-old Sylmar man.
John Wayne Arman, 34, was arrested Sept. 16 after the accident that killed David Eugene Eagleton, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Larry Diamond.
Tests performed on Arman revealed that he was drunk at the time he drove his pickup truck through a red light and hit the car driven by Eagleton at San Fernando Road and Polk Street in Sylmar, Diamond said.
Eagleton died four days later from injuries suffered in the crash.
Arman, who is free on $2,500 bail, was ordered to return to Van Nuys Superior Court on July 7, when he is expected to be sentenced to four years in prison, Diamond said.
