Heroines of Cycling Story Simply Said No to Drugs
On reading Elliott Almond’s article, I had great difficulty feeling any compassion for the plight of Cindy Olavarri, the former world-class cyclist whose drug and steroid use almost killed her and denied her a place in the Olympic sun.
The people I do feel sorry for are her fellow competitors who finished behind her. They are the real champions that were denied their place in the sun because they believed sincerely that their own natural skills would take them to the top of the mountain.
Who’s going to write about those denied champions?
