Trade Deficit With Mexico Falls: The U.S. trade deficit with its third-largest trading partner, Mexico, plummeted during the first quarter of the year, and that trend is likely to continue in the near future, said Robert Miller, commerce attache at the U.S. Embassy. He added that the annualized U.S. trade deficit with its southern neighbor plunged from $2.9 billion in the first quarter of 1988 to about $1.5 billion in the first quarter of 1989.
